Live Illustration
Bring your meetings and conferences to life with compelling visual summaries of all the important conversations and presentations.
Live Illustration
Now tell me this isn’t better than a deck of Powerpoint slides with a load of bullet points!!
* The list of names we get called and what we do is endless and also includes:
Conference Illustrator, Conference Artist, Live Scriber, Visual Minute Taker, Visual Harvester, Meeting Illustrator, Meeting Artist, Live Event Scribing, Live Graphic Recording, Sketchnoter.
I don’t mind what you call me, my visuals are there to simplify, engage and make sense of your event.
We’ve all been there** … kick-offs, conferences and breakouts… endless presentations that by the end of the event have all blurred into one big ‘Death by Powerpoint’. And then at the end of it all you’re presented with a hundred presentation decks which, post-event, often don’t mean an awful lot. And if we’re honest, we’re highly unlikely to look at again.
Now, imagine capturing the essence of your event, not with bullet points, but with dynamic, colourful visuals created in real time. That’s live illustration! It’s visual note-taking on steroids. 🚀
**(me included, I was a corporate suit in a previous iteration 🧑🏼💼)
Live Illustration 101
(Or, how I turn your words into pictures!)
While your speaker is presenting or your attendees are debating in a breakout, I’m there listening intently whilst creating illustrations in real time on my iPad or a massive piece of paper (check out the video below!), transforming their spoken words into a vibrant, visual summary.
From keynotes to coffee breaks, as a live event illustrator, I’m making sure the really important conversations and presentations during your event are captured in an engaging way to ensure that EVERYONE remembers what was discussed.

“It was great to watch Verity create something so dynamic in real time. It wasn’t just about the finished piece, but about the process; the way the sketch developed from just a big blank page into something full of character, style and story.”
Lets take a closer look at the
Power of Live illustration
Pre-pandemic vibes
I live illustrated a roundtable on economic development and remote work policies, capturing insights and, unknowingly, a bit of foreshadowing about the world to come. Talk about being prophetic! (check the comment bottom right!)
Early Pandemic Chronicles:
Remember when we were all trying to figure out Zoom? I was there, live scribing discussions among healthcare professionals, making sense of the chaos, one webinar at a time.
And when your event is over, if I have done a digital graphic recording, then you get a smashing timelapse of the graphic taking shape - like this one.
These are GREAT for sharing with attendees after the event, and BRILLIANT for engagement on social media…
“Ahhhh great!! I don’t have to take notes because you’ve got EVERYTHING here!!

Some FAQ’s about Live Illustration and Graphic Recording
Wondering if you need a Live Illustrator at your event?
No event is too big, too small or too niche. Over the last decade, my pens, iPad and I have journeyed to events of all shapes and sizes.
From intimate meetings of ten to grand gatherings of a thousand, there is no limit to the impact of live illustration:
Annual Kick-Off Conferences
Strategy Meetings
Product Launches
Consumer Round Tables
Webinars
Industry Conferences
And location isn’t a problem either. I’ve zapped my way into events worldwide via live stream, Zoom, and Teams, making physical distance irrelevant.
These events have ranged from multi-day conferences to one hour webinars (and everything in between).
What Industries/Sectors do you cover?
Tech startups, educational forums, healthcare roundtables... all of the things…, although it’s fair to say that a lot of my work is centred around:
🔍Citizen Science and Social Change ☀️🌬Renewable Energy 🌿Sustainability ⚧🏳️🌈🧑🏽🦽Diversity, Equality and Inclusion 🩺Healthcare
and I’ve also done live illustration for organisations in:
📋 Insurance ✈️ Travel 🏭 Industrial 🚀Technology 💰Finance 🪆Human Rights 🛍 Consumer FMCG 💼 Consultancies 🔍Tax 🛎 Ethics and Compliance
to name but a few…
More FAQ’s
-
The first thing I need to know is the date of your event. I need to make sure I can fit you in the Tetris. Then I’ll need to know where the event is, whether you’ll need me there in-person or if it can be done virtually
-
That’s a very good question. Ideally a couple of weeks, especially if I have to travel. I like to have time to prepare and research the subject matter if necessary and also have clear what your objectives are for the final piece. That said I have been called to do a live illustration the day before the event!
-
Firstly the agenda and timings of the sessions are gold dust as they help me to plan out the graphic. Having a preview of the presentations is also really useful as it gives me the chance to think about how I can capture certain concepts etc.
-
Absolutely. If I’m working on paper I will endeavour to use markers to match your company colours - I have even mixed inks in the past to get as close s possible. If we are working digitally then I will use the Hex/RGB/CMYK colours in your branding guidelines.
-
That really will depend on several factors
How many days the event is (I do give a discount if it is multiple days).Whether I have to travel, working virtually is obviously going to be less expensive. If I have to adapt to a different time zone then I may have to charge an additional travel day.
Your best bet is to get in touch and give me as much information as you can about your event or set up a discovery call with me and I will get a quote turned round ASAP.
